HERBAL TREATMENT OF MENSTRUAL PROBLEMS

For excessive menstrual discharge:

Shepherd’s Purse herb

Decoction of the fresh or dried plant: I cup every 2 hours (in most cases the bleeding is arrested after the first cupful)

Shepherd’s Purse is a first-class haemostatic and has a particular affinity for the female reproductive organs, hence it is also used for uterine haemorrhage. The fresh plant is generally considered stronger in effect than the dried form, although both are used.

Yarrow and Plantain are also useful in checking excessive menstrual flow. A hot infusion (use either herb or both combined together as desired) works best, 1 cup taken every 2 hours.
