Bed-wetting is a real problem that affects mother and child alike. Even though it may be the result of some emotional upset or nervous tension, certain remedies, physical therapy and a bland diet may greatly assist the organism and even help to overcome the emotional problems as well.
Bed-wetting in normal older children, if they do not have a cold or some other physical complaint or weakness, can generally be attributed to a psychological conflict. It can be a very unpleasant
home atmosphere, or the child may have simply been spoiled by indulgent parents.
What steps should be taken to help? First, create a happy environment in the home, a pleasant relationship between parents and children. The home should be free from anxiety and the accelerated pace of modern life. It should then not be too difficult to isolate the cause of the emotional problem. Empathy and patience on the part of both mother and father will help reveal it. There may be a variety of reasons, such as fear, jealousy, ambition, overexertion, or exciting television programmes that the parents allow the children to watch until late at night, or some other emotional upset.
